PoE (Power over Ethernet) is a technology that allows to transfer electric energy together with data by Ethernet using a twisted pair. This technology is intended for powering IP devices and permits to avoid laying separate power supply cables.
The PoE technology is described in IEEE 802.3af-2003 and IEEE 802.3at-2009 standards.
