Video Playback

Eocortex Player is an application that plays videos in МСМ-format, which is used to quickly export videos from Eocortex Archive.

There are no apps for Mac OS at this time. You can work with Eocortex using a web-client (a server software version of no lower than 1.6.х).

In order to view the archives simultaneously, mouse over the top edge of the window in the Eocortex application (or push F8), after which, on the instrument panel that appears, click on the "Archive" button, and the simultaneous archive viewing mode will open: in the bottom part of the window, you will find the fragment panel on which the archive is color-coded by channel; in the bottom right portion, you will find the viewing preferences panel, which allows you to set the playback mode and speed, as well as go to a specific date/time. The simultaneous viewing mode is silent.

Try disabling DirectX and/or Н.264 decoding on your video card. In order to do this:

  • In the Eocortex application window, mouse over the top edge of the window (or push F8), after which, on the instrument panel that appears, click on the "Settings" button (the gearwheel icon); in the pop-up menu, select "Set up a current workstation."
  • In the "Client Display Parameters Settings" section, uncheck "Use DirectX acceleration" and/or "Allow Н.264 decoding on video card." Click on "Save Settings."

Eocortex can automatically switch between cameras on display, allowing the operator to rotate between images on the screen. To set up this mode, go to the configurations panel and set the camera profiles and automatic network rotation list. To use this mode, select the automatic network rotation mode in Eocortex Client (configuration settings and operation of Eocortex Client is described in more detail in the User Manual).

In order to watch real time or archived videos using a browser, you must make sure that in the "Mobile Device Connection" section of the server's configurator's settings, the "Allow connection of mobile devices to server settings" box is checked.

Any browser that supports Silverlight can be used for this purpose. All popular browsers support Silverlight: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Google Chrome.

During the first connection, you may have to install the Silverlight platform: in the browser window, you will see a suggestion to install Silverlight; you must click on "Install Now" and then click "Launch" and wait for the installation to complete.

In the future, you will not need to install Silverlight on this computer.

Camera and Device Support

In order to order camera integration for cameras that are not on the list, download the camera integration request form from our website:

Fill out the form and send it to: support@eocortex.com

Once we receive the form, our expert will contact you to go over the details.

Please remember that video stream integration requires remote access to a working camera, and integration of other camera functions requires you to send the camera to Eocortex's office.

Eocortex supports a number of video recorder models. You can receive video imaging from cameras that are connected to the video recorder. Also, for certain models, you can receive sound, manage cameras using pan-tilt-zoom, and search the archive stored on the video recorder.

The list of supported video recorders can be found on the "Support/IP Camera and Device Support" page of our website, in the "Video Server and Encoder Models" and "Video Recorder Model" tables at the bottom of the page.

The list of supported IP cameras and video recorders may be found on the "Support/IP Camera and Device Support" page of our website

Eocortex was originally designed for IP cameras and is optimized to work with them. However, analogue cameras can be connected to it using hybrid devices (video recorders, video servers, encoders) that support analogue cameras and allow you to transmit signal using a local network in the MJPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264 format. This approach allows you to implement a "smooth" upgrade of the system: for example, re-use previously used analogue cameras in a modern IP video surveillance system.

The list of supported video recorders, video servers, and encoders can be found on the "Support/IP Camera and Device Support" page of our website, in the "Video Server and Encoder Models" and "Video Recorder Model" tables at the bottom of the page.

NVR

The Eocortex NVR is a ready-to-use hardware and software solution for receiving, storing, viewing, and transmitting video and audio streams from IP cameras.

The hardware is designed for the number of cameras specified in the model name. Insofar as connected cameras may have different specs (resolution, frame rate, codec, number of streams for different objects), in order to help you determine the number cameras that can be connected to a specific video recorder, technical specifications for each NVR include performance charts.

Eocortex NVRs may be connected to each other as well as to Eocortex video servers with the ST license to create a unified system. At the same time, you can connect to any video recorder or server using Eocortex Client and view recordings (real time video, as well as the archive) from all servers and NVR system cameras.

Features:

  • Two megapixels and 25 frames per second using H.264 with the movement detector cameras or continuous recording;
  • Two megapixels and 12 frames per second using MJPEG (for network video recorders using 4 to 32 channels), 6 frames per second using MJPEG (for NVRs using 50 to 80 channels) using movement detectors on the cameras or the Eocortex detector.

Standard Eocortex NVR is not designed to use video analytics.

However, since NVRs can be connected to Eocortex servers with ST licenses, those channels that require intelligent modules can be put through a separate Eocortex server with an ST license. When working with the ST version, you may connect all the intelligent modules you have to it.

Demo Version

Make sure that your OS has all the current updates installed (including the full ServicePack version).

Set-up and Operation

The issue may be experienced due to the following highly-likely causes:

1. The channel settings in the configuration panel have incorrect parameters for the following:

  • camera IP address, login and password for the camera's admin, manufacturer and camera model, video format. Make sure that all parameters are correct and try to test the connection again. (It should be remembered that some cameras do not properly connect if the admin does not have a password).

2. When testing cameras, the configuration settings create a direct connection from the computer on which the Eocortex Configuration Panel has been launched to the camera. Thus, should the computer and camera be located on different subnetworks, the configuration panel will give a message that the camera is not on the network. In this regard, should there be access from the server to the camera, and the configuration panel and camera settings the option "Connect via the server" exist, then the channel with this camera will function normally. In this event, there are two ways you can test video streams from the camera:

  • launch the configuration panel directly on the server;
  • launch Eocortex Client and make sure it streams the desired channel.
  • video streams from cameras and the managing connection between the server and the camera are blocked by an inter-network filter (firewall) or an antivirus software. In this event, you must disable
  • the inter-network filter and the antivirus software and test the connection again.

The Eocortex release contains three primary pieces of software:

  • Eocortex Server is server software for a wide-area video surveillance network that receives, intelligently analyzes, and archives video data from IP cameras. It is installed on a server that performs processing of data and storage of the archive. Eocortex Server is a Windows service that automatically starts up and operates in the background. The server requires a USB dongle and license file that are delivered along with the release.
  • Eocortex Client is software that is a network client on a wide-area video surveillance system that permits viewing of video in real time and from the archive, camera control, and working with audio and intelligent modules. It is installed on an operator, security head, or other user's video surveillance system. Eocortex Client does not require a USB protection dongle or license file.
  • Eocortex Standalone is software that performs the functions of both a video surveillance server and video surveillance client. It is installed on an individual server which permits, in addition to data processing and video storage, viewing of video streams in real time. Eocortex Standalone is not a Windows service, it starts up separately and has a its own window. The computer should be highly reliable and run smoothly. Standalone requires a USB protection dongle and license file that are delivered along with the release.

Before installing Eocortex on your computer, you must:

In BIOS, disable the options that have to do with energy saving (for the Intel platform, it is SpeedStep or EIST).
Install all Windows updates, and then disable Automatic Updates.
Select the appropriate time zone for your server, then enter the exact time that corresponds to this time zone.

In the OS settings (Instrument Panel), adjust the following settings:

  • Energy Consumption: High performance: disable options such as sleep, screen turn-off, hard drive turn-off, USB or network adapter turn off;
  • User Accounts / User Account Management Parameters: Never notify.

It is also recommended to:

  • disable the firewall;
  • disable the antivirus or set it up so that it would not scan http and rtsp traffic, including incoming video streams from IP cameras (in any event, antivirus software significantly decreases video surveillance system performance);
  • in the network adapter settings, disable the energy saving and thrashing functions;

On the Eocortex video surveillance server, it is not recommended that you use video surveillance systems from other manufacturers, because this may cause conflicts when receiving and processing video signals.

Yes, this is possible. Eocortex can accept two independent streams from one camera. The main stream will be recorded in the archive and (by default) shown in the client's full-screen mode. The alternative stream (by default) will be shown in the multi-screen mode of the client's software and can be used by the motion detector software. In addition, you can set streaming preferences in the Eocortex Client workstation settings:

  • Auto: the multi-screen mode is preset for the alternative stream, the full-screen mode is preset for the main stream;
  • Main: only the main stream is always transmitted and shown;
  • Alternative: only the alternative stream is always transmitted and shown (provided the camera and the configuration window shows this setting).

Thus, in order to limit the stream to a remote client, you must:

  •  use double-stream cameras with video parameters that are optimal for the facility;
  •  enable the configuration setting (in the Camera Settings section) to receive two streams;
  •  on a remote client workstation, in the Eocortex Client current workstation settings, select the "Alternative" mode in the video stream display settings (or leave it on "Auto").

Floor plans can be uploaded from files in various formats such as svg, jpg, bmp, png, gif, and tif.

Eocortex software, download the installation package with the latest version of it from www.Eocortex.com and install the new Eocortex software overwriting the current version.

You can download the Eocortex software installation package from the website on the Support/Download software page

In order to update Eocortex Server or Eocortex Standalone:

  1. Unzip the archive with an installation package into a separate folder.
  2. Log in as an admin and launch EocortexInstaller.exe.
  3. In the new installation window, select a Eocortex Server (Standalone) of the desired category.
  4. Follow the software installation instructions.
  5. During the course of the installation, a warning will pop up about Eocortex software already being installed on your computer and offer to uninstall the current version: click Ok and follow the step-by-step instructions to uninstall the previous version — all your configuration settings will be saved.
  6. Once installation is complete, Eocortex Server will launch automatically.

If you have Version 1.10 or later, the Eocortex Client software does not have to be updated at individual workstations, because it will update automatically when connected to the server with the new version.

If you have Version 1.9 or older, you will have to update Eocortex Client at individual workstations. In order to do this:

  1. Unzip the archive with an installation package into a separate folder.
  2. Log in as an admin and launch EocortexInstaller.exe.
  3. In the new installation window, select the Eocortex Client of the desired category.
  4. Follow the software installation instructions.
  5. During the course of the installation, a warning will pop up about Eocortex software already being installed on your computer and offer to uninstall the current version: click Ok and follow the step-by-step instructions to uninstall the previous version.

Proceed as follows:

  • Run command console (cmd.exe) as an administrator

netstat -a -n -o | findstr 8080
It will provide you with the Process ID
tasklist | findstr ID
It will provide you with Process name"

  1. Stop the Eocortexserver.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\EocortexServer(Standalone) and check if license.lic file exists
  3. Go to %Any archive drive%\EocortexArchive\ConfigsBackups, select the folder with the date when the servers worked properly, open it and open the folder with a long name. There will be two folders: LogicDrives and ServerConfigs (the files required are in the secod folder), or the LogicDrives folder, and next to this folder the required files will be.
  4. Copy the files to C:\Program Files\EocortexServer(Standalone) replacing the old files
  5. Launch the server

Such situation sometimes occurs due to one or several of the following reasons:

  • when deleting Eocortex Server, the operating system did not delete the links in the register to the previous version of the application;
  • the operating system incorrectly stopped (or did not stop) Eocortex Server service before deleting;
  • old server files remain

To remedy the issue of the links in the register, perform the following: restart the computer (not obligatory), then delete the links to Eocortex Server installation in the register. The search for the links in the register and their removal is done with the help of the regedit system utility (the utility is launched by pressing Win+R; regedit). Most frequently, the incorrect links to EocortexServer are left in the following branches of the register:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

To solve the issue of the undeleted service, open the command line as an administrator (Win+R -> cmd.exe -> Ок), enter the sc delete EocortexServer command and wait for the message about the successful deleting. In case of an error, restart the computer and repeat the delete command (without preliminary shutdown on the service).

To solve the problem of the old remaining files, for example, in C:/Program Files, simply delete the EocortexServer folder there.

Server Parameter Selection

In order to choose the right hardware platform for a server or a Eocortex remote work station, you must use the calculator

Licensing and Protection

A Eocortex server requires a license installed on it in order to work. Depending on the type of license, it includes either a USB protection dongle, a license file, or a software protection key.

If you are using a USB dongle, the dongle itself and the license file are included in the Eocortex software package and are supplied with your license purchase. The number on the edge of the dongle must be the same as the number in the license file name. In order to install the license on you server:

Plug in the USB dongle into the server.
Open Eocortex Configuration, in the start window, open the "Other actions..." and select "Install the license on the server."
In the system sign-in window, enter your username and password ("root" by default without a password), as well as your IP address and server port. If the configuration window is open on the server, you can specify IP address 127.0.0. 1; 8080 is used by default).
In the pop-up installation window, select "Overview."
Click on "Install."
If, after you have installed the license, the message has not gone away, you must check the USB dongle and make sure that USB ports are not in energy-saving mode.

In order to turn off the energy-saving mode for USB ports:

Open Windows energy settings: Control Panel /All Control Panel Elements / Energy Settings.
Select "High Performance" and click on the "Plan Settings" link.
Go to the "USB Parameters" section, for the "Parameters for Temporarily Disabling USB Ports" select "Prohibited."
Click on "Install."
When using a software key, Eocortex supplies a key ID with your license purchase. In order to install the license on your server:

Open Eocortex Configuration, in the start window, open the "Other actions..." and select "Install the license on the server."
In the system sign-in window, enter your username and password ("root" by default without a password), as well as your IP address and server port. If the configuration window is open on the server, you can specify IP address 127.0.0. 1; 8080 is used by default).
In the new license installation window, select the "Software Key" option.
Enter the key ID you received with your license purchase into the "Key ID" box and click "Create a file." A license request file with the *.McKeyRequest extension will be created.
Close Eocortex Configuration.

Send the license request file you have created to info@eocortex.com. In response, you will receive a license file with the *. McKey extension.
After receiving a license file (with the *. McKey extension), open Eocortex Configuration and go to the Software License Installation Panel (i.e., repeat Steps 1–4).
Click on the "Overview" button and select the license file.
Click on "Install."

You need to read the 8-digit number off the USB dongle (white numbers on the side of the dongle; for example, 2D9145F0) and contact the sales department or technical support service. We will send you a license file for your dongle.

You can download an update software installation package from the Support/ Software Installation Packages page of our website

You do not need licenses for client computers. The license (a protection key or a license file) will be installed on the server, which will process the video stream from cameras and store the archive. The license file will specify: the license type, the number of channels, and the number of modules.

The maximum number of client workstations that can be simultaneously connected to the system depends on the type of license you pick (ML, LS, ST). For Eocortex NVR, the number of client workstations that can be simultaneously connected to the system is unlimited.

Intelligent modules

Please, be aware of the following incompatible modules:

  1. Tracking and People counting
