Active Directory (AD) is the Microsoft's directory services for operating systems of the Windows Server family. Active Directory allows administrators to use group policies to ensure consistency in customizing user work environment, including centrally installing and updating software on multiple computers. At the same time, Active Directory networks can contain up to several million objects. In addition to storing information about objects and groups of directory services in a centralized database, Active Directory can act as a unified authorization system for many applications. It can also be integrated with other authorization services.
