MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) is a workgroup that was created by ISO and IEC for developing the standards for compression and transmission of digital audio and video data. It also has the official designation of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29 WG11 (ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1, Subcommittee 29, Working Group 11).
