TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is one of the main data transfer protocols of the Internet.

The TCP mechanism provides a stream of data with the preliminary establishment of a connection. It sends a repeated data request in case of data loss and eliminates duplication if two copies of the same packet are received, making sure (as opposed to UDP) that the data being transferred is consistent, and notifying the user about the results of the transfer.
