VBR (Variable bitrate)

VBR (Variable bitrate) is a method of enciding the stream data (video) when the bitrate does not depend on the content and changes in the course of the broadcasting.

In the stream video, the VBR's advantages lie, on one part, in the high quality video when encoding complex and dynamic scenes, and on the other part, in the small amount of data in the course of encoding simple and static scenes. The shortcoming of the VBR is that it may require too much time for encoding, and the immediate bitrate might exceed the communication channel's width, leading to lags during playback.
